I was involved with the planning and execution of Syracuse.edu from the beginning. From content audits and page maps, to WordPress publishing and quality assurance, every day was brought something new during the two-year execution phase.

Once the site launched, my team focused on daily maintenance and continued improvements. Day to day, I managed the site content and ensured all information was accurate and presented effectively. Longer-term, I worked to improve our search engine optimization, accessibility, and information architecture, all while collaborating with developers, designers, and various University departments.

What we accomplished:

1.

To streamline the user experience and cater to our primary audience—prospective students and families—we reduced the number of pages on Syracuse University’s home site from 4,000 to 300 by consolidating related topics, removing duplicate content, and focusing on wayfinding.

2.

As part of Syracuse’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, we prioritized web accessibility in order to meet and exceed the WCAG 2.0 AA guidelines. Our team was passionate about providing the best user experience for everyone.

3.

In the years since the site launch, Syracuse University has seen a record number of prospective student applicants, as well as increased website traffic and improved search performance on Google and other search engines.
